Used twice, and so far, it is excellent. I have only noticed one issue in that one of the 50 pockets was not done correctly. If I could have given 4.5 stars, I would have since I put a smaller item in that pocket, it could fall out. But there are so many pockets, and I know their warranty is as good as Badlands, meaning they will fix it for free for lifetime of product, that I didn't return it for another, since I had to have mine shipped to me.
Besides the one issue, everything seems very solid and well made. The waist belt is well padded and I like the pockets on it, so you can carry something there and reach it without having to take the pack off.
The quick release so far I have only used for a gun. That was a little bit of a hassle to get it to work correctly. You might need to move the buckle higher up than it initially comes. Also, it will fit better on a pack with items in it than on an empty pack, which is how I originally tried to put it on. But once you get it figured out, it is pretty easy. I am not sure I would be able to get it off quickly/smoothly enough to shoot a deer I see while walking to and from my tree stand. I would give myself about a 70% chance, depending on how far the deer is from me.
It fits around a tree very well. If you tree stand hunt, this is the only Eberlestock bag for you. If you don't, then the X1 might be better.
Badlands makes some others that I might think about getting, but only if you don't want it to carry your gun/bow. And I believe the Bow release is VERY smooth due to the way it fits.
It does look a little weird with the extra pack at your head, but you can take it off if you aren't carrying a gun. But you need it to keep the gun from hitting your head.
Overall, I would buy this IF you have the money. You get what you pay for, especially with the great lifetime warranty.
I love having my hands free while walking through the woods. Your bow is easy to access. I rigged my quiver to the side of my bag, making it even more efficient. It is large enough to carry all the gear I need. I havent tested the bag in the rain. Some say it is not well waterproofed, but I believe eberlstock makes a rain cover that would fit it. Great bag, worth the cost. Good luck with your hunts.
