Secure any bow, crossbow or rifle to your pack and keep both hands free. Redesigned for lightweight efficiency, this pack features a suspension system that maximizes support, creates structure and offers all-day comfort, and its curved design allows natural airflow between your back and the pack. The durable shell is constructed of CT450 Plus. This ultrasoft material remains quiet in any temperature or condition, and its low-nap finish will not collect burs or other clingy vegetation. The generous main compartment easily accommodates bulky items. Two side pockets, one with a pass-through design, holds shooting sticks or a collapsible hiking staff. The fold-out bow-cam/buttstock support secures the lower cam of your bow or buttstock of your rifle and adjusts to fit even a long muzzleloader or recurve. The padded compression pod holds your bow or rifle securely in place and can be removed for use as a day pack. It also contains an organizer panel and a hideaway blaze orange safety panel. Features YKK® water-resistant zippers, a molded back panel, a padded hip belt and contoured shoulder straps with nonslip panels. Imported. Main compartment dimensions: 20"H x 13"W x 7"D. I had the older version of this pack and replaced it after the clip for the bladder hose broke. I was expecting an upgrade, but I prefer the older one. However, since Cabela's doesn't sell the old one anymore I'm stuck with this one. It's a pretty good pack, nonetheless. My only complaints are that it could be a bit roomier and easier to pack/get your gear out. The older version had different sizes; I'd like that better because it's tough to fit a day's worth of supplies and things like a sleeping bag/tarp in this one, which is essential if you're going after elk. Also, the zippers only go 3/4 of the way around so it can be tough to dig through. Plenty of compartments make it easy to organize, though. I miss the old pack, but this is a good replacement.
I have the older version of this pack and really dig it. It's great for day hunts with lots of little pockets inside to keep all my little peices of gear organized. I'm an an ultralight back packer and this pack is just big enough to fit everything I need for a two night back country hunt. (Keep in mind my sleeping bag, tent, etc... are smaller and lighter than regular gear)
My complaints are:
1. The straps are rediculously too long. I'm 6' and 200lbs, so I'm not a little guy, but there's at least a foot of extra hanging off each adjustment strap. I cut them off shorter.
2. The attatchment point for the extra compartment gets in the way of opening the main zipper and you have to undue the two upper points to get into the main compartment.
3. The water resevoir is garbage. It leaked from the mouth peice and just seemed to flimsy to trust holding water in my pack. I replaced it with a Camelback bladder after my first hunt.
4. The routing for the water tube is a little weird and sometimes the tube ends up behind me and can be very hard to grab.
If you need something that will carry everything for a day trip up the mountain this is the pack to have. Essentially a large middle pack with different smaller mesh pockets inside. A smaller outside pack good for knives, gloves, and binoculars. Both my rifle (Win Model 70 with Scope) and bow (Hoyt) fix nice and firm right in its little pouch. It has great back padding and the waist and chest straps are easy and quick to adjust to your frame. The camel-bak has been leak free and the top it easy to open and close. Drawbacks are few. The mouthpiece for the water does seem to end up up at an odd angle when you are walking. With so many zippers and pouches you sometimes forget where you put things.
This pack really does it all. I have used it for both archery season as well as rifle season. Performs like I expected it to. Very easy to adjust straps for either bow or rifle. Side runner pockets are ideal for easy access. Just added the Buddy-Loc accessory pouch to the side for the range finder and I have a pack I will be using for years. The back pad and shoulder pads are far more advanced than I was used to. Great, convenient, comfortable back for all types of hunting.
