These 10-oz. earmuffs have a soft foam earcup that pivots independently with a padded headband for an extremely comfortable and protective fit. Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 30db.
I bought this pair of ear muffs in about 2008 and they work great! they have 30db, so they block out the sound pretty well. I also shoot durning the summer and they are a little warm but most ear muffs are that way. These are the way to go
I've got a large melon 7 3/4" (well that was the helmet size in football 20+ years ago) and these still fit my dome without being painful.
When firing, you hardly remember what hearing anything. I've fired up to 30-06 and .270 numerous times and have been within 10 feet of others firing these calibers and the protection works. You feel the concussion from the blast and you realize just how loud the shot would be without the protection. But you don't feel the pain of the shot.
As for 9mm and .40 cal, no problem. You will hear noise, but it won't hurt the ears.
.12 ga for skeet and trap? 3 hours at the range and it gets a bit uncomfortable and sweaty. But when you get home, your ears aren't still ringing and you can hear what folks are saying.
Got a pair for my wife and getting two more pair for my girls.
The FLIMSY plastic piece holding the headband to one earmuff was broken when received. I would not recommend this product to anyone. I returned it to Cabela's for credit. I will buy a different brand from Cabela's
