Mechanical valve blocks out loud impulse noises while permitting normal conversation. Eliminates the "plugged up" feeling you get from most hearing protection. Soft silicone rubber cushion for comfort.
Available: One Pair, Two Pair.
purchased these and the sportear XP3's at the same time. i was not pleased with this brand. very uncomfortable. they also dont muffle the sound of a pistol enough to shoot more then a couple times before your ears are ringing. I wouldnt purchase these again but love the SPORTEAR XP3's. trust me just pay the little extra to get what you are looking for.
These are pretty good. I'd actually meant to order the similar SportEAR Plugz product and got these by mistake, but I'm not disappointed. I used them for some pistol shooting and found the protection to be adequate overall. They're great for what they are, which is a low cost, reusable hearing protector for use in situations such as hunting or skeet shooting when it is important to be able to hear what's going on around you and still have some protection from muzzle blast, and they're nice since they won't interfere with cheek weld and don't require batteries. They are a compromise, though, and I feel that other forms of hearing protection will preserve your hearing better. I'd recommend them for use "out in the field" (perhaps even for LE work?) and not "down on the range". Oh, and, you really can hear through them quite well, though I found my own voice weird sounding while wearing them. I also didn't find them uncomfortable in the slightest, though I know some people probably would.
Pros: adequate protection for outdoor shooting environments, work as advertised allowing you to hear conversation and other normal background sounds (even fairly quiet ones). The rubber cushion is very soft indeed. Cons: not enough protection for use at an indoor range and (maybe) not enough for covered outdoor ranges; may be too large for some people to wear comfortably.
I really wanted something to protect my ears while hunting. These were an inexpensive alternative to the electronic muffs or electronic plugs, but I was a little skeptical. They work great, though! On a recent walk, I shot at some squirrels with a .22 revolver. I could hear most things normally, but the gun shots were not painful. I wouldn't use these at the range (I double up with muffs over foam plugs there!), but they're great for providing some protection from muzzle blast when hunting.
