Can you say Bright?
Date:
This headlamp is very bright. I recently took it on a two week hunting trip and it worked fantastic! The best part was I didn't have to change out the batteries one time. The unit is plastic, but it doesn't feel cheap or flimsy. The angle adjuster is firm and stable and stays where you point it. The green and red filters are a little difficult to flip out of the way if you have gloves on, but I consider that very inconsequential.
I was impressed with it, and if you're in the market for a good headlamp; just buy it! You won't be disappointed.

Overall: A good light (for the price)
Date:
Pros: Inexpensive, uses common AA batteries, very bright focused beam, waterproof
Cons: Weak attachment points, red lens gives pink light, beam too tight for close work
I received this Primos light as a Christmas present in 2010, and have had a chance to use it in the 2010 late Muzzleloader Deer season, as well as in 2011 Bow Season. Prior to this headlamp, I have used two lights for hunting; a Tec Aurora 3-LED, AAA-powered headlamp, and a rechargeable 18 volt flashlight (from a cordless power-tool kit). My group of hunters is hunting primarily public land (National Forest) and we prefer to hunt far from the easy access areas, and like to get onto our spots well before first light. This means a lot of walking in the dark and near-dark. We mark trails to our spots using reflective markers, spaced about 100 yards apart. I used the 18 volt flashlight in order to see from one marker to the next on the trail, and used the LED headlamp once on my stand to get set-up. The much lighter weight Primos light on HIGH lights up the trail markers even better than the 18 volt light did, making them really POP out of the background, even at 150 yards. Another plus is that the Primos light uses the same AA batteries common to my FRS radio and GPS, allowing me to carry one type of batteries for spares.
The light does have a couple of weaknesses, however. The light attaches to the pivot point with two small plastic nibs. I dropped the light once, and it popped right out of the plastic piece that holds it to the headband. The clip that is supposed to allow the light to be clipped to a ball-cap doesn\u2019t work very well, as the light is too heavy and pulls the cap forward. Even on LOW the light is too bright and tightly-focused for close work. The colored diffusers help a little, but red lens produces a very pink light that doesn\u2019t illuminate very well. Still overall, a good product for the price.

Well worth it
Date:
I' ve had this headlamp for over a year and I use it all the time, not just for hunting. This lamp is amazing. It throws a great beam and battery life is good. It's been exposed to a lot of foul weather and moisture without failing. I would definitely buy this again.
