Browning Junk
Date:
I bought a Browning headlamp about a year ago and it worked fine for a few camping trips. Then recently the switch went dead. Bulb goes on and then out immediately. I retuned this headlamp to Browning Service and they replaced it with a Phantom headlamp. First trip out I had the same problem. Then after a few days it seemed to work fine again. I left it on for 15 minutes without a problem. Last night the power went out. After 20 minutes of reading, the bulb dimmed for 2 seconds and then went completely out. This happens every time I try to turn it on.
My conclusion is that Browning has a problem with the switch on some of their headlamps. Their price is high end but the quality is Junk. If you want a good headlamp buy a Streamlight.

There are pros & cons
Date:
You will have to carefully determine what your lighting needs are before purchasing this headlamp.
The pros: The Luxeon Rebel LED is an extremely bright light for its size. The distance the light can project is like having a spotlight on your head. The headlamp is very comfortable to wear & lightweight. The battery is easily accessible and easy to change.
The cons: The stated 25 hr run time is for the colored LEDs only. They are average in illumination. The on/off switch is flush with the surface of the lamp. This makes it somewat difficult to locate. The Luxeon Rebel LED consumes the power of a battery very quickly. Usually in 30-40 minutes. Since it is a LED the light does not gradually get dimmer it just goes out completely. You will need to have a supply of batteries with you.
This is a great headlamp if you need one to walk to and from a tree stand or ice house. But if you need sustained lighting you may want to consider one with a longer run time.

Browning Phantom 70 Headlamp

This is a great little light for the money. (I bought mine on sale.) Wish I had bought a couple. The white light is just right for that morning trec to the deer stand or anywhere that you need light. It don't hurt your night vision that much when you shut it off and its light weight.

Good headlamp, at least for my purposes
Date:
I use headlamps a LOT. In particular, I like a red LED, as it illuminates animal eyes very sharply at night. All LEDs illuminate animal lights, but the red makes it like a becon. I can even see the eyes of spiders in the grass with this light.
I use a red headlamp while stargazing with my telescope, as red causes less night-blindness. I knew that this headlamp did not have a long runtime, however I use rechargeable AA batteries, so it's not big deal for me. I use other headlamps for longer runtime.
This is a very comfortable headlamp, lightweight, and easy to switch between the various colors. Also, it has a slide-down diffuser, for a more widespread beam.
If your application is a long-term run with a headlamp, then this is probably not your light, but for a very bright LED with color options and wide beam, this is an excellent light.
