Floating, not sinking, and poorly balanced
Date:
The 5 1/2" 1 5/8 oz Herring is clearly floating in freshwater, not "slow sinking" as marked on the lure. When stopping the reeling in, the lure mounts to the surface where it stays hanging head down. Casting distance is low for a lure of this weight class, because it has a strong tendency in flight to rotate around its yaw axis or even to tailspin. The trebles catch easyly the leader in flight, so you always have to care for stretching the line before landing. It's easy to animate the lure in the water by twitching or jerking, but in this case nearly always the trebles will catch the leader. So, this lure is of restricted use: you may reel it in simply or troll it, and it then will move nicely snakelike close to the surface. The overall construction and the finish look sturdy, the split rings are of good quality, the trebles are ok. But this lure is poorly balanced which causes the mentioned problems. I am disappointed.
