These lures flat out produce fish, and large ones at that. I caught six keepers in the large mouth version, one being a 4 pounder. I also caught the largest small mouth bass (17.5 inch fatty) of my fishing career. I caught all on the first day of using the gold version. I'm hooked. Nice lures, great action.
This lure has great action, but seems to foul too often. Either the hooks tangle on the leader or sand gets into the grooves and locks it up entirely. When this happens you need to rinse the joints and shake vigorously.
I have purchased 4 strike-pro lures (2 magnum size, and 2 large) and all of them tail hook themselves to the leader after a cast about 60% of the time. So you are guaranteed to catch no fish when it does this. As a result these lures, as nice as they seem to swim are never used anymore.
The strike-pros have a too much flexibility for casting, and as a result will hook itself and hang up no matter your casting technique. An ideal jointed lure while remaining flexible is not able to hook itself (other lure trebles) or the leader while achieving life-like motion in the water.... the expensive Luck Lures and even the Rapala X-rap Jointed achieve this exquisitely. If you're trolling, Strike-Pro lures will probably be the best to use.... but for casting, they're more trouble than they're worth....
The negative reviews made me write this one. i have two of the old lynx minnows - same design, different company. The only issue with this lure is fouling with both hooks. simple fix is to remove front hook. you still catch plenty of fish. I have used these in saltwater and smallmouth in canada, and trout. have caught all those fishes no problem. You should try it, it has such a cool action, all you need to do is reel it back, no special method. i nailed pike after pike with it, and several speck trout too. Casts well too, doesnt go too deep, but will go to 6 ft or so. 4 stars because of the hook issues.
