The three best colors and two best sizes of Panther Martin red hook spinners to use to catch trout. These spinners simulate when a gills of a fish become engorged with blood known as "gill flash."
My brother who is 10 caught a 16 inch wild brown trout in Tahoe on The North Yuba River with one of these. I usually catch 3 fish in an hour on this. They also work great on bass when the water is murky and only the flashing of it will catch fish. My only problem with them is big fish can bend the treble hooks. A pair of pliers can fix it but it's sort of a bummer
I usually fly-fish for trout, in the Catskills, but i only use dry flies. So when the fish aren't rising, I use these guys. I've caught many, many trout on these spinners, any of them. Caught a 22 inch trout on one the other day. I almost can't cast these spinners in without catching at least a small trout, be it rainbow, brown or even a few small rare brooks.
I've used these in other situations and have caught smallmouth and many panfish, even a fallfish once. These spinners are so easy to catch fish with.
