I have used these for all of my trigger bass rods. They are strong and have held up. The only thing I do before I use them is grind or cut off part of the threaded end of the reel seat. I do this because I don't need a reel seat that long for my bait casting reels. I shorten them so I can still get the reel on and off easily. On the size 16 at least 1/8 inch and on the size 18, at least 1/2 inch. If you are going to do this, be sure you cut squarely and less than you need to. Then sand down the end to what you want and make it smooth. I use a small hand held belt sander to do this.
I use a Norman rubber hook keeper on the reel seat and this requires some space.

I have built three rods using this reel seat, all as gifts for family members. Have two more in the works now. So far they have performed well fishing spinnerbaits and crankbaits primarily for Bass. Overall, they seem to be a good value.
