Just got mine today it had been opened and apparently used. If there were suposed to be a card in the slot it was missing. I never powered it up to tell what maps were on it. Its going back .Cabelas is sending me another one hopefully in time for my Memorial Day weekend trip. I'm just sick about the whole thing. I will let you know how it all turns out. I gave it a one only because of what has happen.
Just recently bought and haven't used it. But my nephew has one and loved it so bought mine. We used his in the mountains and it helped us find our way back to camp without mishap! Looking forward to using mine on a cross country trip soon. Great instructions making it easy to operate.
After reading the good reviews, I purchased the 62st from Cabelas online. I received it and found that it had been opened and was missing the lanyard and the topo sd card. If you pay the $100 extra for the topo model, make sure that someone hasn't purchased this gps and removed the card prior to return. A real shame that it came direct from Cabelas online and they didn't check it before sending out a USED item! I'll definitely think twice moving forward on larger purchases.
This unit has far exceeded my expectations and continues to do so every time I turn it on. I've had it under dense canopies in the middle of Canada with no trouble with GPS fix or operation. I also carry this unit with me on hunting trips in North Dakota and Ontario. I can honestly say I have never had a single issue with this unit and I've used it well over 200 hours. The Birdseye feature is neat but eats up alot of memory if you download the highest resolution imagery. This unit also has an external microSD slot for additional memory. Canadian topo maps are available for purchase and will fit on a 16GB microSD card. Different profiles allow quick changes between road GPS settings and deep woods GPS settings. It has a Geocaching application but i've never used it. Compass fix is extremely quick and accurate. I've been through thunderstorms, dropped the unit several times and it has never skipped a beat. I would have to agree with the other posts in that Garmin hit a home run with this unit. This unit also allows the user to turn on/off different map settings (ie, U.S. topo, birdseye imagery, Canadian topo, basemap# otherwise the map becomes cluttered very quickly. Battery life has been exceptional but don't buy cheap batteries, use the extended life lithium ions and you will not be dissapointed. I can use this GPS for 8 hours straight with average interaction and still have 3/4 battery life when the day is over #and that's 30' - 40' temps!). Overall, outstanding unit and I would imagine the price will come down soon since it's been on the market for a few years now. Enjoy!
