Garmin vista hcx
Date:
I recently purchased the garmin vista hcx. It is the first Gps I have owned. It is so easy to use. I do a lot of hunting and it has definitely proved helpful being able to mark locations. I like being able to see the altitude and barometric pressure. I also purchased city navigator thru garmin so I can use it for in the field and on the go! I did a lot of research before purchasing this unit and am very pleased with it.

Very Happy
Date:
The Vista HCx is the 5th GPS i have owned, 4 were hand held 1 was for the auto, the 4 handhelds were all Garmin products. I did some extensive research on this unit and the Garmin oregon 450t ,i finally settled on the HCx because it fit my needs better. My last gps was the Vista this unit locks on to satellites from almost instantaneous to just a few seconds after i turn it on ,reception in a heavy tree canopy posed no problems at all , and it even gets reception inside my house which was unheard of with any of my previous models . Have used it a few times for a couple of hours and battery power hasn't budged on the meter, i like being able to set the screen page sequence in the order i want and get rid of the pages i have no use for, this customizes it just for me, if their is one draw back it would be that the screen size is a bit small, but no real big deal.....

hunters best friend
Date:
I love this gps. I've had it for about 3 years. I've added the city streets cd so I can use it for travel also. Whether your scouting, hunting, hiking, fishing, hiking or driving this one does it all. I love the extra features like the sun and moon phase, hunt and fish predictor and electronic compass. We used it getting around DC using the pedestrian route, worked great. I love the fact that you can download your maps to a microsd and just switch them for whatever you need. I've got streets on one and the topo on the other. In the woods it doesn't drop signal even in the heaviest tree cover. Battery life is pretty good too.

screen issues in cold weather
Date:
I have had this GPS unit for several years now and have only found what I consider to be a significant flaw. When I use the unit in cold weather the screen does not display well. I never had this issue on my older black-n-white Garmin. I get around it by keeping the unit inside my coat except for when I am actually using it. All in all, it has served me very well and I am pleased with the product.
