Bushnell® Backtrack Point 5 GPS

Backtracks are the simplest GPS units you can buy. Small enough to fit easily in a pocket or purse, they also have a metal ring for a carabiner so you can clip one to a belt loop or pack. Using the latest GPS technology, this units will mark up to five locations. With the touch of a button the unit will display how far away you are from a marked location and what direction you need to go to get there. Each has an integrated self-calibrating digital compass, high-sensitivity GPS receiver and fast satellite acquisition. Power is supplied by two AAA batteries (not included). Displays the time, temperature and altitude. The compact and affordable simplicity of Backtracks make them ideal for applications that range from finding your way to a treestand or trailhead to marking the location of your vehicle in a large parking lot or locating a rendezvous point for meeting friends and family at big events. Backtracks – a simple GPS unit that makes your life simpler.

Save up for a better one.

I got this unit because I thought for my purposes, why buy an expensive GPS? I don't hunt a lot of unfamiliar ground. I've tested it close to home (luckily), and if I hadn't been able to see my house, I'd have been hopelessly lost! You can swing it around to calibrate ; self calibrating..not. take that off the package. I could SEE my house and even after "calibrating", would point different directions depending on which way I turned. If you don't mind walking a lot of extra miles, the foot/yard/mile measurement will indeed tell you wether you're on track. That's fine if your only yards away but if you are miles away, you'd walk a long time before finding the error. Save a while longer and get something else. Unless of course all you need is to find your car in the parking lot.

Very Poor Quality

The battery cover lock broke as soon as I opened the lid to put the batteries in for the first time. I now use duck tape to keep it water tight. The clip should not be trusted as well, I bent the clasp trying to get the clip off my belt loop. Yes, designed to get you out of the woods if lost, however you may wait along time to get satellites!

To fragile for outdoors men!

Bushnell® Backtrack Point 5 GPS is junk! Bushnell Customer "No" Service is a joke. I put my 5 point in my front pants pocket, because it does not come with a case or cover. I put my cell phone in my other front pants pocket, while I was bush hoggin' with my tractor on our hunting lease. I saved several locations during the day. By the end of the day only half of the screen was barely visible. (OBW cell phone still works) I returned to Bushnell Customer "No" service and their response was that I had abused the unit and they would sell me another GPS. I respectfully declined. I own 8 Bushnell Elite 4200 series rifle scopes and have been very pleased. The quality of the scopes is great, so I assumed the GPS would be good. I now know that assumption was very wrong. I will never buy another Bushnell electronic consumer good and the're Customer "No" service makes me uncertain about service on their rifle scopes, if needed.

This is perfect for hunting, camping, etc. The new model with 5 points makes it much more versatile than the 3 point older model. Simple to use. You just have to be careful with the Battery compartment. Take your time and don't force it, you'll be fine. I don't worry about getting lost at all anymore.
