Short & coarse with short tips top rate hair. Above patterns work better than the classic patterns because the flies float in the surface film & is a perfect silhouette. You can adjust amount of hair hackle to water fishing. Bushy for rough water light for still waters. With the price of ounce of dry fly hackle reaching the price of ounce of gold I sticking to good comparadun hair.

shorter hairs

this stuff is great for working with smaller compara duns but when you get to like 12's and larger the hairs are to short and you dont have a tall enough looking wing
