Combo Lock is Not Secure

The combo lock can easily be opened without knowing the code. You can spin the wheels until they "click" into place and open the lock ... it can be done with your eyes closed. This is not a secure method of storage.

Bought this product to secure a handgun while traveling, Everything looked like it was going to work great, however what I found is the lock actually only locks the latching mechanism in the open position. Maybe the key lock versions work better, but do not buy the combination lock version.

Relatively secure storage

Dials barely turn
NOT memory foam
Bottom line: It works but is very frustrating, foam smells strongly of petroleum probuct, dial is hard to turn and very vague as to where one should line up the combination (which seems to change each time I use it). I still use it but I always reach for my other brand small format security device and only use this one when I absolutely have to. Dont plan on being in a hurry when you need to get into this thing.
I HIGHLY suggest you seek 'competing' brands with this security format. I did and it works FAR better.
I settled on 2 Stars because it does work.

Combination dials don't turn

What a bummer. I liked this box because it had the lock on the center edge of the wide span instead of other boxes which have the lock at the center edge of the narrow span (which can interfere with the pistol barrel). Straight out of the packaging, the combination dials did not turn in order to lock the box. I don't know if I got a box with defective dials or not, but I'm returning it. It's useless if you can't lock the box...
