Secure, safe and fast. The GunVault Bio uses fingerprint recognition to access the contents. A high-performance algorithm is used to achieve speedy identification of enrolled fingerprints. Every time you open the safe by touching the fingerprint sensor, it adds new information to the fingerprint templates. It also updates slight changes that might occur over time to an enrolled fingerprint as well as helps distinguish variations between enrolled fingerprints. System can handle up to 30 fingerprint templates. AC or battery powered. Available:

I purchased the GunVault based on reputation of Cabelas thinking they would only carry top notch merchandise. When I received the gun vault, I inserted the 9 volt battery as instructed and immediatly the battery got too hot to handle. The vault was malfunctioning and could not be operated. I called the toll free number as indicated and Gun Vault was happy to send a replacement, which took 6 weeks to arrive. The second vault, while the battery wiring was fine, once programmed, the vault would not open consistently. 1 out of 5 attempts would it work as it should. I called Cabelas and shipped it back. Cabelas has stood behind the product they sell, but I will not be recommending this product to anyone. Very disappointed with Gun Vault!
I bought this at cabelas in dundee michigan. when you place your finger in the scanner it takes several like about 6 times on average to open safe. It claims it takes 3 seconds to gain access to your weapon which is not accurate. It can take about 50 seconds on average to access your pistol. in a real situation say at 2 am intruder in your house you will probably be not be able to access your gun in a timely manner. poor product cabelas should not even sell it.
...but this product deserves it. When it worked it was finicky at best. Shortly after I got it the motor died...it had been opened about 6 times. GunVault customer service replaced it and, several months later, the replacement unit stopped working (whirrs but will not unlock). This time the manufacturer customer service was much more difficult, to the point where I wrote the whole thing off. Why would I want a 3rd piece of junk? I had the finger-button model as well which I loved...for 2 years until that one also failed. That whirring sound is NOT what I want to hear when I need my weapon in a pinch!
Bought this because of the security and ease of access offered by the bio-metrics. Reviews were mixed, but I did it anyway. The Bio-metric scanner on the Micro worked great the first week or so. Had no trouble getting multiple fingerprints programmed, and it read them first try every time - the first week. Have now had it several months, and it has yet to read any fingerprints programmed into it. I would recommend either the keypad version, or be prepared to keep the key right next to it. Like others have said, I would hate to have to rely on it in an emergency.
