Just a few comments on this item. The hardware and bent square tubing is just fine. If you hit the post at full speed it will probably bend. But why would you do that you are recovering your boat on the trailer not running a race. The PVC tubing inside diameter is too large and thin walled. They will come off in deep water and the caps are cheap thin rubber and not bonded to the pipe like they should be. I corrected this problem by purchasing 2 inch schedule forty PVC and plastic caps at the local hardware store for about ten bucks. I bonded the caps with regular PVC cement. The thick wall PVC does take some effort to install very tight fit but with a little grease on the square tubing, a hammer and block of wood it will go on and they will not come off. No additional screws or hardware required and they should last much longer.
I got the guides to fit but not without some headache. If the picture that was on this page would have been included in the instructions they might have made more sense. But as it was, the only tubing on my trailer that was small enough to accept the mounting brackets were cross braces that then would not allow the plate holes to line up without mouting them on in reverse order. The bolts did go through both plates but are cocked at an angle and the they had to be run up through the bottom with the nuts on top. Save yourself some real stress and put SS regular nuts on first and they will turn down all the way with the jam needed. After everything is installed and tight, go ahead and put the lock nuts on as a double jam nut. Even though I buy a lot of stuff from Cabelas, this is one thing I'd steer clear of. The square tubing can be bent around by hand and any impact will cause the things to need to be bent back. Sooner or later it's gonna break!
The guides I bought for boat trailer were good but thought the kit should have included sheet metal screw to keep pvc tubes from floating off & the cap on end of pvc should have been cemented
