Natural Baits
Natural baits can be either a concoction of natural origin, or a portion of a bait that is no longer alive. Natural baits are convenient, requiring little care and are very effective for freshwater species such as trout, catfish, carp, stripers and some panfish, while most saltwater species are susceptible to cut bait.

Pier-Fishing Advantages
There was a time when I felt sorry for boat-less anglers who were restricted to fishing from piers and breakwalls. It seemed that they were at a major disadvantage. Rather than wait for the fish to come to them, anglers in boats could hunt for fish, searching them out wherever wind, baitfish, the spawning urge and current would take them. Pier anglers seemed to be too restricted.

Steelhead Under Pressure
Crowds. I abhor them. Especially when I'm fishing. But it's a fact of life that that more and more people are jumping on the steelhead fishing bandwagon. Popular rivers look like the Thanksgiving Day parade on prime weekends. Anglers pack in elbow to elbow below dams when the spring run is peaking. Sometimes it's hard to just find a place to get your line wet. So how do you beat the crowds, find your own little piece of nirvana and still manage to keep a bend in your rod? Here are some tips that should help you battle your share of chromers this season.
