Rice Lake's Panfish Paradise
Ontario's Rice Lake is one of the few places I've been where the fishing is actually as good, or better, than people say it is. There are those detractors, those old timers, who claim the panfish aren't as big or as plentiful as they use to be, the walleyes not quite as big, but when you can go somewhere and catch hundred's, if not thousands, of hand-sized bluegills, sunfish and slab crappies, giant largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleyes up to 10 pounds and gargantuan muskies, I'd say that's a pretty darn good fishery. In fact, I don't know of any other place like it in the world.

Springtime Crappie Bonanza
There is one species of fish that offers a chance for early season fun from the Deep South to Minnesota. The enjoyment includes not only catching, but also eating them. Crappies are considered fine eating fish wherever they swim, and early spring is prime time.
