You'll start putting fish in your livewell by fishing this Cabela's-exclusive Gulp! jigging grub when the plain
grubs aren't getting the job done. Sizes: 1-1/2" (Per 24), 2" (Per 20), 3" (Per 11), 4" (Per 10)
Went to Beach #4 in Washington State about 25 Miles south of Forks. 11 Aug caught 26 Surf Perch that were keepers. I had squid and Berkley Gulp as bait. Two hooks on the line one Berkley grub one squid. Out of the first five perch four were on the Berkley grub pumkinseed color. Also I would cut about a 1/4 inch off the grub and put it on after the squid to hold the squid on better. I would thread the grub on just like a worm then cut off the tail part of the grub and leave the point of the hook showing. 18 Aug caught 16 perch using the same method, 24 Aug caught 9 perch. Also I use Mikes shrimp or herring gel and squirt it into the Berkley packet the day before I go fishing to give it that extra smell.Keep in mine the tide and moon was a big factor. I live about 4 minutes from cabelas in Lacey Wa so all my tackle come from there. Like Xmas shopping everyday. Thank you Berkley,Mikes.Cabelas.
I've had huge success with the 1-1/2" bait with bluegill. On a bare #8 hook, I thread the bait on with the hook exposed and the tail horizontal. I also use them in combination with wax worms and crickets. Using a long shanked # 6 or 8 hook, thread the bait up the shank so it stands vertical and the tail hanging down. Then add a wax worm or cricket.
It's a very simple fact .... swimming grubs will put fish in the boat.
I can honestly say that the gulp scent trail makes a difference on overall hook up ratios. It seems like they hit it harder and hold on longer than regular plastics.
