Ameristep® One-Man Chair Blind - Tangle™ Camo

  • Combines a comfortable chair and a stealth-enhancing blind
  • Sets up in just minutes with spring-steel construction
  • Includes handy shoulder strap for easy transport
  • Chair has a built-in cup holder
  • Weighs only 10-1/2 lbs. packed
When you're hunting alone for the day, you don't want to haul around a ground blind large enough to hold two to three people. Ameristep has helped solve that problem with the new Chair Blind, a portable unit made with water-resistant Durashell fabric. The standard folding camp chair is completely covered by, and attached to, the blind. In less than 10 seconds, you are able to set up and take down the Chair Blind, and gives you enough room on the sides for minor movement. Two camo mesh side pockets hold essentials, and a large front zippered window provides unobstructed shooting and maximum visibility. The whole unit (chair included) packs down to a reasonable 15"W x 15"H x 36"L for easier transport in and out of the woods. It weighs just 11.6 lbs. On-the-go deer hunters will especially like this blind - it makes the perfect setup when chasing moving bucks.
Weight: 11.6 lbs.
Dimensions: 34"W x 45"D x 54"H.
Camo pattern: Ameristep® Tangle™.

Just what I was looking for
Date:
I went down to Cabelas to look at the blinds because my layout blind was not going to work for deer and, I did not feel that the effort putting up my tree stand was necessary. Oh, let me back up a bit, I had just had a monster blackmail come in from behind my right shoulder and being right handed could not get a shot off befor he made me and bolted. So after searching through the blinds and giving up I went to the junk pile, which is what I call the Bargain Cave, to see if there were any kids t-shirts for my daughter - and there it was. I don't know about long term durability, but I don't intend to use it as a trampoline and it seems to be built about the dame as the folding chairs I have had for ten years. The same ones that other people cannot get a year out of before trashing them.
Now, I sat in the seat, pulled the blind over my head and zipped 'er shut before trapping the front under my feet and sat there in 20 mph winds. Yea rain was blowing in through the openings, but I was not drenched (hey we are talking western Washington in November and it does rain here). I was able to keep my scope dry enough, without covered on the lenses, and I was comfortable.
The openings were ample and placed OK.
Yea, I did shoot a buck, not the monster I missed earlier, but the blind was exactly what I was looking for. It has backpack type straps too which make it super easy to haul in and out.
In short, it is a perfect blind for blacktail hunting and if you are worried about it not sitting well on uneven ground - there is a new invention that will take acre if that, it is called a garden trowel.

Disappointing
Date:
I liked the portability and ease of set-up, but the third time I used the blind, the tubular steel yielded to my 210-pound mass and broke in two right where the rivet fastens it to the seat corner. I looked it over and I'm pretty sure it's not repairable. I would like to have used it a few more times before throwing it away.

Poor for uneven ground
Date:
I tried this blind in the hollows of Tennessee, an area with a 30 to 45 degree slope and intermittent relatively level spots. The chair rocks back and forth every time you move. Slits do not allow downward view. Useless for this type of hunting. This blind will only work on firm level ground. For this type of hunting, a low dome blind, allowing the hunter to sit on the ground is needed. Im still looking.
You cannot stand up in order to make a shot. I had 2 nice bucks walk within 20 yards of me, but I could only see their heads because of ground slope. If I could have stood up, I could have filled my tag.
This blind is well constructed, but poorly thought out.

Ameristep Deer Blind
Date:
This blind is "OK", I have used it about 3 days in a row and already the fabric on the chair where the screws that hold it in place ripped. But it doesn't affect the use, I managed to watch deer walk pretty close to me and never notice me at all while I video taped them.
Good blind for the money, could use better material on the chair to preven the ripping.
