Used these gloves for the first time deer hunting this year in Pennsylvania. They worked very well however if the temperature drops into the mid thirties or lower you will need something a little heavier. Very comfortable and not overly confining to hands and fingers.
I find 40grams to be about all the insulation you can effectively put in a glove. Any more and the fingers get too tight - squeezing them makes them colder by reducing circulation. Also, the extra insulation makes them unable to grip effectively. These are just right. However, they are not enough to keep your hands warm all by themselves on a stand. You'll need some hand warmers in your pocket or muff to help them out in anything below freezing but that's not too much to ask. Would be nice if they could make a scent lock version without adding any more bulk. They are 100% waterproof and very durable.
Nice warm glove. The only problem is that because of the strong leather smell of the palm it can't be called a hunting glove for about a year when the smell finally wears off. It has been over a year since I purchased and just now do I have the nerve to enter the domain of the whitetail's nose with them. I feel the cuff could be an inch longer. I haven't tested the water repelency, and I am not very confident ,because the dryness of the products claiming to be dry plus in the real rainy world all seem to come up short. Many products work well under a faucet test , but in real world rain seem to eventually get soaked. I would always carry some backup neoprene gloves and I also carry several pairs of black nitrile gloves to keep skin dry if the glove fails. I am confident these may become one of my favorite pair of cold dry weather gloves from 20 - 50 deg far., and below 20 I will back them up with a Cabelas MT050 hand muff for those long sit and waits.
