Great starter treasure detector for a child

I run a Garrett Ace 350 purchased at Cabelas and we bought this unit for our son's 7th birthday. It's a solid unit, easy to run, easy to operate and he will have it for a few years before outgrowing it.
Like other reviews state as does the marketing remarks demonstrate, this unit does not take headphone adapters and it is built for a childs size. All said, this was the perfect starter unit and it would have received 5 stars had it taken headphones.....it could drive some people mad as it beeps, squeels and does it's thing as it was designed to do.
No regrets...great product and great price!

I purchased this item looking for the least expensive product in order to retrieve a fired 500 Phantom cartridge case from the grass in the Coconino National Forest outside Flagstaff. This detector located every piece of metal inside my shooting area including my 500 Phantom case lost for one year in the tall grass.
It was able to detect buried wire, a half dozen 30/06 cases, one .45 ACP case, several old tin cans and one 7.62X39mm steel case. It is highly accurate and by sweeping the detector head over the grass as instructed it was able to pinpoint each buried case, some to a depth of several inches in the dirt.
It is light, handy, and usable by an adult if you are not too tall.

It is loud, with no volume adjustment, or place to use headphones, which they sell, and were purchased. It used 6 batteries, and we had less than 20 minutes of use. not worth it, get an adult model.

Good Starter for Kids!

While this is not going to find any buried treasure, it works very well to help kids find loose change that has been dropped and is near the surface. Hard to distinguish between the sound of junk and hte sound of coins or other precious metals, but overall for the price, a very good product.
