2,000-WaH Inverter Generator
Parallel Cable Kit - connector includes one L5-30 and one 30-amp RV receptacle.
After a lot of research, I decided on the Champion 2000. It's at least as quiet as any comparable size unit, at a fraction of the cost. I purchased two, along with the parallel cable. Together, the two units are ghost-quiet, and put out plenty of power for my RV. One, by itself, running in econ-mode, runs all the lights, battery charger, fridge, TV, and computer. Switch to full power to use the microwave. Crank the second one only when needed.
This generator is almost like the Honda and Yamaha ones except for the price and one other (to me) serious flaw. It runs great, it's really quiet, and pretty light. The flaw: we went camping at one of my favorite camping areas which is right at 10,000 altitude. Given, this is pretty high up there. It just absolutely refused to run in eco mode. Would start out ok, but shortly just couldn't recover and speed up to cover the wattage pull of even a couple lights. Are they all like this ... no. My nephew had a Honda 2000 and ran like a champ. To me this is too much of a problem to want to keep it. On the good side, Cabelas happily took it back, no hassle. I'll try one of the Yamahas and see how that goes.
I really wanted a Honda, but couldn't pull the pin on spending a grand. I got this one for half the price and am very happy so far. I am going to use it to power my fish house this winter. I tried it out yesterday. I was able to power the lights, fans, tv, and electric skillet all at once in eco mode. I had the thing in the back of my truck and could barely hear it. It starts right up and seems very well built. All I need and I didn't break the bank.
I needed to upgrade a camping generator that had served me well for several years. I bought this model at a Cabelas retail store. It starts easily and runs very quiet. The sales staff was very knowledgeable and helpful.
