Cabela's Dry-Plus® Rain Suede™ Evolution Packable Parka – Tall

  • Fabric is softer and quieter than ever
  • Waterproof, breathable Dry-Plus
  • EcoNano durable water-repellent finish
  • Three-piece hood
  • Double-reinforced forearms
Rain Suede has been a Cabela’s staple for many years. Our new Rain Suede, with Evolution fabric, takes the original and makes it even better. In order to even consider replacing our original Rain Suede, the new fabric had to be perfect. Evolution was that fabric. It’s softer and quieter than our original Rain Suede, but retains the same exceptional breathability of the original. Plus, the microdenier polyester allows camo patterns to print with extremely vivid detail that never fades. The shell fabric is backed with 100% waterproof/breathable Dry-Plus and has an EcoNano™ durable-water-repellent (DWR) finish, which keeps water rolling off the garment, even under extreme pressure when kneeling or crawling. With just a few quick shakes and a couple "brush-offs," the fabric is as dry as when you started the day. It’s your first line of defense against all types of moisture. You can wear it in a downpour and it will be ready to wear again the next day without having to run it through a dryer. Evolution is also extremely versatile, so one investment will see you through multiple hunting seasons. Because the fabric compacts easily, each piece can be rolled and stuffed into its own pocket for storage. Moisture-wicking mesh liner provides next-to-skin comfort. Two zippered slash pockets create ample storage space and are lined for warming chilled hands. A snap-close storm flap over the YKK® zipper and hook-and-loop-adjustable cuffs deliver added protection from moisture. Visored three-piece hood with drawstring and cord lock at the rear. Double-reinforced forearms. Underarm gussets. Imported.
Tall sizes: M-3XL. Extra 2" body, 1-1/2" sleeve length.
Camo patterns: Mossy Oak® New Break-Up®, Realtree AP™, Seclusion 3D® Open Country®, Seclusion 3D®, Mossy Oak® Treestand®, Mossy Oak Break-Up® Infinity™.

Perfect!
Date:
I bought both the jacket and bibs on sale last winter. I wore them during turkey season and spring fishing. I started out wearing them only in the rain when hunting, but the bibs were so quiet I ended up wearing them the rest of the season even when it wasn't raining. These garmets are really quiet. I sat out in 2 down pours during turkey season and multiple rains when fishing and never got wet once. Also took them to canada in september and worked great there. Little rain but had lots of wind and waves. With the spray coming over the bow I still stayed dry. Some here doubt the quality, but the clothing has yet to let me down. Can't make any guarantees, but it has worked great for me.

Real great
Date:
I take that jacket and the pants for 4wheeling, hiking, bbq and whatever comes. No matter standing in the rain or going 50mph on the 4wheeler...i stay absolutely dry. I recomand getting a tall size cause you have better mobility with your arms and you can wear some layering clothing under it. Best jacket i ever bought!

Terrible for keeping you dry!
Date:
Don't even consider buying it. I've hunted with it twice now. Both times I was soaked after 30-45 minutes. SOAKED! I was only hunting in a light rain. I wouldn't even take it on a misty day.

So-So Performance
Date:
This suit blocked the wind great during my 2008 CO elk hunt and I would have given it more stars, however we only had a few minutes of rain/snow so the real rain suit performance was not tested. Once home in SW MS there were a few short walks to a stand that still did not challenge the Dry-Plus material. All that changed during a football game this past Friday night 10-30-09 when I sat and stood through steady rain to watch the game. While the suit kept me from getting soaked it definitely DID NOT keep my dry. I first felt dampness along the sleeve seams then across the back of my shoulders and eventually along my outer legs. Much like another review stated I could literally wring water out of the sleeves at the end of the game which was a fast one only lasting 1-1/2 hours. There has to be better options that are quiet and will truly keep the wearer dry. I am now in a serious quandary about whether to depend on this suit during an upcoming 2010 SW CO elk trip or to start looking for something more dependable. For snow or light rain for short durations this might be fine, but to hunt all day in rain this suit/material might let you down and allow you to get as damp and cold as I got at the game. You might want to keep looking because this material definitely does not shed water, it soaks it up like a sponge.
