Obenauf's Leather Oil Preservative

Use for regular maintenance and preservation of leather items and to add water repellency. A gentle blend of natural oils, waxes and propolis extends the life of leather and also rejuvenates neglected, dried, faded leather to a soft and supple condition. Contains no harmful silicones, petroleums, solvents or neatsfoot. Applies easily with the applicator cap or with a clean cloth. Excellent for touch-ups between applications of Heavy-Duty LP. Made in USA.

Good stuff!
Date:
I saw this leather preserver/water repellent on my last trip to Cabela's and opened the bottle to check it out. It seemed like it would be easy to apply with the fluidity of the product and the nice applicator attached to the lid so I bought a bottle. When I got home I applied it to my favorite hiking boots (which happen to be about 5 years old). Well that old leather just sucked this stuff up like a thirsty camel. I applied three liberal coats and let the boots sit over night. The leather the next morning was like new only better, more supple and hydrated. I tried it out on a pair of almost brand new shoes the next day and the leather ended up softer and much more supple with the Obenauf's oil then it had been without. It's now been several months and both pairs of shoes are doing great, I haven't had to re-coat either pair. I've used mink oil and snow seal in the past and while those are both fine products neither seemed to refresh and soften the leather like this stuff does and the Obenauf's is a lot easier to apply (no need to warm your boots in the oven). I haven't stood in any water for extended periods of time like I have in the past using mink oil so I can't do a direct comparison on the waterproofing ability's of this product but I know it's more then up to the task of a Chicago winter. You should know that it will darken the leather, all of the leather preservative/water repellent products I've used do.

Best Boot Waterproof Treatment I Have Used
Date:
I have used various waterproof treatments over the last
50+ years and this is the best. I have used spray on.
waxes, and mink oil in the past. Obenauf's works the best. I have used it for three years with no leaking and the leather boots stay as soft as they were when I bought them.

Obenauf's

This oil is excellent. It does not waterproof like the heavy duty LP, but it does condition gloves and anything leather or touch up boots after heavy duty LP. I even like the results on sueded work gloves, although it darkens suede a little. I would never buy or use any synthetic oil on leather after using this product.
