Plastic gears
Date:
Bought this grinder to process a wood bison (lot's of meat). It worked great for the first two or so minutes, a little loud though. I missed a bullet in one of the pieces of meat, the grinder was turned off immediately but it was too late. I removed the cover and sure enough one of the plastic gears had a portion of it's teeth worn down. Hopefully I can find spare parts, If not I'll try and find one with metal gears.

Worked great first time, second time died.
Date:
I bought this machine because it was better than others at the Hamburg, pa. location. It was larger and looked like a better make than the other smaller cheaper machines. The price was a good deal too. I was very happy with it when I did my first pig, grinder made very nice ground pork. The sausage stuffer worked great and we were very pleased. The next day that I used this machine, I was halfway done grinding up my second pig and there was a lound metalic bang noise and that was the end of a happy day. It must have been a gear inside that broke or slipped? I ended up freezing the last of the meat. I think that in total, it ground 100 lbs. of meat for those two days. I was very careful while using it, I didn't force it too hard etc. so it wasn't my fault that it died. Cabela's was great about giving back ALL my money, and I was happy about that. Always pay for insurance and always save your paper work on products!!!

Great Grinder!!!!
Date:
This grinder works great as a grinder. DOES NOT however work as a great stuffer. The plunger is undersized for the throat and cause's the meat to come back up around it instead of forcing it down and into the casing. Also the stuffing horns are tapered wich do not allow you to put the casing all the way on, so you can only make small runs.
