Gardenmaster Dehydrator
Date:
Purchased over the phone the above dehydrator. Beautiful unit as I had a similar brand Golden Harvest.
I like all the features it is easy to use, clean up and store and i recieved it withing 3 days!!!!!!!!!
BUT buyer beware!!!!!!!!!
I prepared a full load of fruit, turned it on and within 3 hours the fan had moved up the shaft and was beating on the screen.
I called the CO. and chose to return it to a Cabellas near us, if you call 90 miles close.
I decided to get another as the trays from my old one fit the new one. and HOW COULD IT HAPPEN TWICE??
IT did, got home loaded it with meat this time and wala it did it again.
Cabellas did issue a return ship and gave me a $45 gift certificate for loss of meat and fruit.
Great Company, Defective product.

Fan went off kilter
Date:
Purchased this dehydrator and an extra tray pack earlier today. We were making dried apricot wedges, and two hours into the project the fan started making a horrible noise! It was hitting something inside the base, but as there is no way to open the base up.. all we could do was shut it off.
We've cleaned it up and are returning it to Cabella's for a replacement (We've fallen in love with their customer service!). I'm hoping and expecting this to be an anomaly - thus the three stars. We have more apricots to dehydrate, so tomorrow we'll put the replacement to work.
I'll put up another review on the replacement, whether it works as advertised or not, in a few days.

Pretty good
Date:
I tried the cabelas square dehydrator first and it couldn't reach safe temperatures for drying meat. I didn't get the excalibur because the wife thought it was too expensive. So I got the Gardenmaster because it had 1000 watts and is made by a company who's been in the business a while.
I've had it 3 days and I've dried 5lbs of jerky, fruit leather, and fruit slices. Everything has turned out great so far. Each tray holds about 5 big slices of top round.
I don't care that much for the round design when it comes to laying out your food, but it could be worse. The trays are fairly big and circular design is an efficient design for air flow. Also I didn't see any need to rotate the trays (with 4 on).
Did jerky in 5 hours. Pear slices and fruit leather in 7.
I tested the temp with my thermometer during various stages of jerky drying while the temp was turned all the way up on the unit. 1/2hr in it was 125. 2 hrs in it was 141. 5 hours in it was 145.
