I hear some of the complaints on other reviews, but for the most part, this is a very good knife. I have both versions, and have purchased 2 mini's. (thought I lost one, but found it after I purchased the second) I have had the screws get a little loose, but I just tightened them and no more problems.
One of the best knives i have ever bought. Right away i was worried about the black blade getting scratched but after using it several times i checked the blade and noticed that it was holding up just as well as my stainless knives.
I bought this knife a couple weeks ago . I would say medium weight not too heavy not too light. Nice clip that lets the knife ride low in the pocket. I gave mine a good dose of rem-oil when i got it. This knife is not really intended for everyday cutting needs although i'm sure it would do fine. This knife is to slip in your pocket to give you alittle piece of mind that if your in the wrong place at the wrong time you won't feel completely naked. I have a switchblade and this knife opens quicker then it. , with alittle help from your thumb of course. In closing I think you will be happy with this knife. I haven't sampled the "mini" version yet.
I read the other reviews before I made my online purchase. I just received my Gerber F.A.S.T. Covert Knife and have found it to be of good quality and meeting all my expectations. Some people have personal preferences which may not be met 100% of the time. The pocket clip is very sturdy and will be useful when attaching the knife to my pack strap, ensuring it does not get torn off by a branch. A drop of oil on the thumb safety makes it instantly function much smoother and I like the fact that it engages automatically when the blade opens, ensuring that it won't close on fingers when in use. Having serrations on half of the blade will make it easy to cut things like nylon strapping and tent chord. I am very pleased with this sturdy, multifunctional cutting tool.
