Vise, tools and materials you need to tie an assortment of productive flies, including Wooly Bugger, Rock Worm, Pheasant Tail, Adams, Elk Hair Caddis and parachutes. Ties up to 36 flies. Hook sizes 8-14. Instructional CD included.
A decent beginner kit. It doesn't include the half hitch tool they use in the dvd. You also are gonna need head glue & tungsten/lead wire. They use it in the dvd but its also not included. They should put a "what to buy also" list on the front of the case, instead of on a peice of paper inside that tells you, once you get home, what they didn't include. The vice is ok, but not nice by any means. The bobbin tool will need tweaking to loosen the pressure it puts on the spool. These are really the only bad things about this kit. Materials & other tools are good and the DVD is helpful.
I got this kit a couple days ago and was soo excited I made 10 flies the first night. The tools are good for now but I can tell from using them that I'm going to upgrade pretty soon. The bobbin and the vise were the only tools that i had some problems with, either it held the spool too tight or it would just fall out and the vise was a little finicky but once you figure out how to use it its pretty simple. Also, I suggest getting some different threading because it breaks really easy and is very inconvenient when you're finishing your fly and it unravels. Besides those few problems everything else seems pretty good, the material that is given is great, nice little carry case keeps everything organized and easy to store, and overall a cheap price for a great beginner kit. Have fun fly tying :)
pretty good kit, but the hooks that come with it aren't good for tying woolly buggers. also, it is missing some materials. but otherwise pretty good kit.
