Bought this reel prior to a recent bonefish trip to Belize. Absolutely no worries about this reel handling fish that take you into your backing in a matter of seconds. Drag is smooth and could stop a truck if needed. Start up is phenomenal. Looking forward to many good years of service from this reel.

OK, so I essentially took this reel and tried as hard as I could to find some weak point in it. I put a completely tightened down drag on big chromer 15-20 pound king salmon in super fast water. Yeah, my drag screamed, but it never broke down. I was truly surprised at how well this reel preformed. One of the smoothest drags I've ever dealt with. At 445, this reel is the best there is.

I have two different sizes of Ross Momentum fly reels, as well as other Ross models, and like them, it is a great product. Cabela's always chooses wisely with any product they sell. I live in the land of Ross and am acquainted with several people that work at Ross. As an engineer I appreciate all the features and quality workmanship that is in all their reels. From their entry level reel to the top of the line, the one thing that they have over all the competition is simply high quality, best materials, excellent design, superior drag system, quality components and excellent workmanship. With respect to this I would rank Ross in the top 2 or 3 reels being manufactured today. The reason they are not number one on my list is overall weight. I have found that a lighter weight reel aids in balance and reduces arm and shoulder fatigue, incredible product, too heavy for me. Four stars, excellent product, try one you will like it.
