Bought this reel in a #5 as an update to the reel i had on my 8wt. I have used it for steelhead and salmon and absolutely love it!!!! It pays to have this reel when you want to drop the hammer on a big 30lb salmon running up river on you. When I finally get my spey rod I will be getting another Momentum for sure!! Ross designed another great reel!

As a steelheader I'm looking for ultimate durability and rugged construction. The Momentum delivers. And, the smooth drag means even on 6# tippet I'm nicely protected. I own an older Momentum V and a Momentum V LT and both are great. I actually slightly prefer the older version a little for it's rugged construction. But, the newer LT is a touch lighter and will balance better on a single-hander. Since I use these on Switch rods the heavier version isn't an issue.
Not cheap, but worth it. Great for Winter!

Momentum LT #4 and #6

I was slow to warm up to the Momentum line over my Big Game's. The LT is a brute of a reel, that not only dropped some weight, but looks better than it's big brother! The drag could stop a speeding truck, and is just as smooth as my loved Big Games. These are great new reels that are a home run for Ross! I have the #4 and #6, and have used them both in fresh and salt water. In salt, just rinse them in fresh water after you are done fishing.

The Ross Momentum LT Fly Reels are the answer to stopping powerful fish. I brought the Momentum LT\u2019s on a recent peacock bass trip to the Amazon and they performed beautifully. The initial run of a peacock is as powerful as any species on earth and when you hook numerous in a day most reels seize up or the spools warp! The new Ross Momentum LT Reels can handle these fish indefinitely! These reels are awesome!
