Leap to the top of the food chain with a world-class reel that neutralizes leader-snapping stress from explosive hits and spool-emptying runs. Its conical drag and triple-redundant radial pawl engagement system delivers seamless, tippet-saving transitions between line-in and drag engagement with split-second responsiveness. Updated for 2010 with more aluminum parts at the request of customers, it features a new vented spool and frame that is fitted with a new aluminum spool cap, drag knob and escapement cover. The one-piece, large-arbor frame and spool are CNC-machined of a proprietary 6061-T6 aluminum alloy for high-impact durability and all-conditions corrosion resistance. Aluminum Teflon®-impregnated Delrin® 500AF drag material capitalizes on space-age polymer technology for heat-dissipating performance and self-lubricating, maintenance-free convenience. The drag mechanism directly connects the Delrin 500AF drag material to the anodized-aluminum interface for eliminating start-up friction. Oil-impregnated bronze bushing. Stainless steel spindle. Easily converts for right- or left-hand retrieves. Quick-release locking spool. Rated for freshwater or saltwater duty. Manufacturer's lifetime warranty. Made in USA.

I love ross reels, I have a dozen for all my fly rod combos, whether vexius for offshore or cla's for my full sink line ross makes a great product! All my clients ask what kinda reels I use and I only and will only ever use Ross...highly recommend!

This is a great SMOOTH and LIGHT reel with a great drag. I really like the green color that matches perfectly with my Sage Z-Axis 590.
Now here's the problem - IT'S TOO LIGHT! In other words it doesn't BALANCE well with my rod. I had to add lead core trolling line under the backing to bring the weight up and balance my outfit. The rod should balance right where your forefinger rests on your grip with about 3 feet of line hanging from the tip of your rod. Before I added the extra weight it balanced almost 2 inches in front of the handle. Sometimes lighter isn't better! An unbalanced rod leads to casting problems, can tire you out prematurely and just doesn't feel good in your hand. Make sure your reel balances well with your rod.
