Lamson’s flagship reels are now better than ever. Pocket-milled spool face with integrated counterbalance increases strength and stiffness while reducing weight. Maintenance-free conical drag utilizes two cone-shaped elements matched together for a precise fit. This system completely seals the drag from the effects of moisture, salt and grit. Because the mass of the drag elements is centralized, the reel is more responsive to lighter drag settings. The average radius of the contact surface is also much smaller than a disc-shaped drag, eliminating startup torque. The zero-lash feature delivers instant line engagement. Stainless steel clutch is impervious to corrosion. A 3X torque rating safety factor ensures an unlimited service life. Redesigned drag knob for better grip. Hard Alox finish resists scratches and the effects of saltwater.

Maybe the best for any price

I purchased two of these reels (LS1 and LS3) for a 3 weight dry fly rod and a 6 weight streamer rod. I have been overjoyed with them to say the least. First, they are incredibly well machined and their drags are the best money can buy. Second, their hard alox finish is un like anything i have ever seen before. You simply can not scratch this stuff. I have many reels. Some cost more, some cost less, but honestly, i feel these are the best reels on the market all things considered. I can not imagine a scenario where someone would regret buying one of these American made beauties!
