I've been through a lot of reels, most of them substantially more expensive than this one. Some are used only a few times and are consigned to the "spare reels" drawer in my fishing cupboard.

This reel is simply excellent.

The spool / frame set up is designed with low tolerances, so there is no chance of your line jamming between the two and getting damaged or causing a snap off.

The arbour is enormous, meaning less backing is required - infact with a double taper line 100 to 150 yards of backing is all that is needed. When you factor that in, the total weight of the reel in action is substantially lower than that of other reportedly "lighter" reels that take 250 yards of backing. This also means less coil in your lines.

The drag is top class; on par with that of reels of 3x the price.

The sound is pleasing, which is saying a lot from me because I am generally a silent reels guy.

The reel looks very good on the rod, so the aesthetics are in place.

Why did I only give it four stars? Well - what are you going to give the Litespeed if you give this 5 stars? If the rating is in the price category below $200 - it gets 5 stars hands down no arguments.
