I picked one of these reels up shortly after their release and have been really pleased with it. I've been told it uses the drag system from a well known reel company and it shows. I routinely catch carp on a 5wt with 4x tippets and the drag adjusts easily during the fight to keep just the right amount of pressure on the fish but still letting them run without breaking the leader. There is no buildup of pressure before the drag kicks in so your drag doesnt get tighter when the line stops. This is an excellent deal, especially when they put them on sale for less than sixty bucks! I'm buying another one for my 2wt, and wouldn't hesitate to buy more. You'd have to jump up considerably in price to get any more features or performance.

Check the weight of this reel against all of them on the site. for a 5-6 reel, you won't find a cheaper real that is this light. Super smooth reel on top of that and to the guy who said nothing holds on the spool, you have to be smart enough to seat the spool on the reel and when it "clicks" its seated and your line/tippet would be gone LONG before a "big trout" pulled the spool away from the reel. Can't go wrong with this reel.

Bought the size 2 this past winter, finally got a chance to use it today on the trout opener. Caught several 16" plus browns that got into the drag, 6x and 5x tippets. Drag is super smooth, with a very nice quiet click. Silent retrieve also excellent. Reel seems rock solid. Time will tell, will report again later. 4 stars for now, if it proves reliable over time, it will be a 5.

Bought the combo reel/spool in size 1, 3-4W. I am using these to replace a reel that I can't get spools for anymore. Quality of manufacturing appears to be very good. Fit and finish are very nice.
Word of caution(?) The discription says large arbor, this does not mean large capacity. Despooled the old "standard" 4W reel, line and backing.
When I put the line on the new reel I ran out of spool and had to go back and remove about 20% of the backing to get all the line on. The spool is probaby still too full.
Drag is smooth but not overly strong and the spool seems really secure on the reel. Will give the reel a try this weekend and see how the fish like it!
