I was thrilled with the salesman, and the rod and reel are top shelf... all i have to do is tie on the tapered leader and fly and im fishing... I also got wadders and boots and a new spinning reeland rod..... all top gear, thanks cabela's
Let me preface this by saying I've had good luck with Cabela's gear. I LOVE my float tube (much better than the one I purchased from a larger competitor that I had to return....).
But, as much as I hate to say it, I haven't had good luck with these flies. I'm new to flyfishing, so I definitely don't have the most delicate of presentations. However, these flies have just fallen apart on me. The copper wiring easily comes off the buggers (as do the hackles) and the material seems to slide off easily from the smaller flies as well. Took the preemptive step to put a dab of glue on all of them to keep the material on. Probably not the smartest because it adds weight, but I had to do something.
Dissapointed, but not about to leave Cabela's over this.
This set is an excellent starter set with good detail and workmanship. I like having 2 of each fly so if one is working and you loose it you have another. Very good value for the price and excellent for that teenager or youth who is learning to fly fish but you don't want to overspend till you know if he or she is really going to stick with it.
