Fish Cat 4 Deluxe Float Tube

  • Inflatable seat and backrest for comfort
  • New design enhances visibility
  • Generous gear pockets with beverage holders
  • Adjustable-height stripping apron with a ruler
The added comfort and flotation afforded by an inflatable seat and backrest make this a great tube for extended time on the water. The inflatable seat allows you to sit higher in the water, keeping you drier, giving you better visibility of feeding fish and more leverage for longer casts. Two spacious gear pockets with beverage holders keep all your gear close at hand. Upgraded for 2008 with a new adjustable height stripping apron with a ruler that provides a workstation for measuring fish and tying on flies or extra tippet. A tube repair kit is included. Durable, 600-denier PVC pontoons resist abrasion. This tube is outfitted with Boston valves. Five-year warranty.

great tube lousy stripping apron design
Date:
I bought this tube from high recommendations from the Cabela's fishing department. I did my research and though it was a little more spendy I made the purchase. Tube is great, handles well and is well designed EXCEPT for the stripping apron. Honestly, it looks like and works like a failed shop project from a 7th grader. The is no way that it ever sits in the tube like pictures indicate. For the price of the tube I think Fish Cat should do a recall and design an apron stiff enough to work.

Fish Cat 4 Deluxe Float Tube
Date:
My sons and I have used U-Boat style float tubes for the past 6 years as they were the lightest to pack to remote locations. Although easy to pack, they offered very little stability and had the tendency to tip forward. Also, when the wind/chop kicked up on the lake, it felt as if we were going to flip over. Not good!
I finally bucked-up and purchased three of the Fish Cat 4 Deluxe Float Tubes. Although they are heavier to pack, it was well worth it! The set-up/take-down time was a fraction of what we were used to and once on the water, we were fishing in luxury.
These tubes are very stable in the water, and our fishing is no longer interrupted when the wind comes off the surrounding mountains. Sitting higher up in the water allows us to stay warmer, we have better visibility, and kicking around the lake is easy as the design of this tube allows them to glide effortlessly. These float tubes are built to last and are definitely worth the extra $$$.
The only thing I would add is Velcro straps on top of the pockets to be used as rod holders and they should strengthen the thin plastic arms on the stripping tray.

great product

above water float tubes are the best IMO. this tube is great, I tried this one, the cumberland, and another one where you sit in the water. The cumberland is very good, but I do like the inflatable seat a bit more for comfort (just a bit). However the seats air valves are different than what I've ever seen before and I had to hand pump them while carrying a blower for the rest of the tube. I can still get it ready in less than 10 minutes but a different valve might have made it 2 minutes with less baggage. I will be on a search for a better system for next year.

Fish Cat 4 deluxe
Date:
This is my third float tube and it is by far the best. I bought it for a long weekend on a private lake this last fall. Setup and take down took a fraction of the time it took others in my group with their float tubes. I did not have to add air to it for the entire weekend. It was comfortable and kept me high enough out of the water to let me spend a lot more time fishing than some of the others. I could also spot fish easier because I was sitting higher. My only recommendation for improvement would be that the stiffener on the outside edge of the apron was too flimsy and tended to collapse. A beefier stiffener should correct this problem.
