Easton Tracer X nock

To be honest I had given up on lighted nocks after using some other brands, but I had some extra money and bought a four pack of them to test them out. I didn't have high hopes for them but I was happily surprised.

To address the nocks turning on by themselves, Easton engineered these nocks to have a "sleep" mode and an "active" mode. The action taken by the shooter to turn them off and on is simple to remember and can be easily done at the range or in the tree.

The magnet used to turn the nocks on is the part of this product that seemed to be the easiest part to fail. But I followed the directions and cleaned the area where I was gonna place the magnet and it hasn't come off after months of shooting in all conditions.

The biggest problem I had with the other brands was the nock part itself. Even though the package said "X nock" they either fit to tight or to loose and didn't fly like my stock nocks. But the Easton Tracer nocks grip just like my stock nocks and fly tru to what ever distance.

I will never buy another brand again, I love these nocks and will stick with them. They show up great on film and I have never failed me (I have shot them enough to run a whole set of four out of battery, 90 hrs a piece).

X Nocks

I bought these a couple of years ago because I shoot Easton ST Axis arrows. First of all you have to activate them by a small magnet that you then attach somewhere on your bow so the nock will pass over/by it when released to activate the lighted nock. I had previously tried Lumnenok's but I had problems with those, so I tried Tracers. Theydid last quite awhile but when they go you might just as well throw them out, you can't replace the batteries in them. They seemed to work well if you remembered to activate them, then of course you haved to remember to put them to "sleep" again after your done hunting, otherwise if they come close to a magnet they will turn on and stay on. I went back to Lumenok's. I see that Lumenok put a ring around the area that contacts the nock end of the arrow so they tend to light up more consistently than the old ones that just had one little wire sticking down that was supposed to make contact (had fun playing with that one). You have to know where your arrow hit and be able to find it during low light hours (dawn/dusk) otherwise your just guessing if you hit the deer.

Poor battery life

I purchased 2, 2-packs last season & got a 3rd from Easton.

Pros: Solid construction (just like a regular nock), bright (when the battery isn't low--see below), reliable (they worked every time the battery wasn't dead).

Con: POOR battery life--1 of the 4 I purchased was dead & 1 was very dim. I returned to Easton & got a new 2-pack, both of which were much brighter than the store bought ones. I hunted 3 weekends, put the nocks in "sleep" mode while hunting & "off" during the week, never shot them so they were never fully activated, yet the batteries were dead by the end of that month.

This product would certainly get 5 stars if the batteries weren't a problem, & Easton's customer service was very helpful & prompt. However, I won't hunt with these nocks until they're improved because the batteries aren't replaceable & the nocks are worthless without batteries.

I bought the four pack and one of the four was so dim that I had to hold it in my cupped hands up to my eye to tell it was even on. After a couple shots for practice it was completely dead and another one was fading fast. The two that did work were sure fun to shoot though (I only shot them four or five times and then turned them off). When I took them hunting I was excited to try them out, however it seems like everytime I turned around I had to keep turning them off because for whatever reason they would come on, and before long the two remaining nocks were fading out also. I'm very dissapointed with this product. I expected so much more from Easton. First of all I don't think the batteries whould last one hour let alone 90 (what a LIBERAL claim). And second of all they come on by themselves all the time. If they worked and lasted as claimed they would be one awesome product, but they don't. Way to much money for such an unreliable product.
