Disappointed
Date:
Everyone swears by this jig. I bought it thinking I could put 4 helical blazer vanes on my arrows (currently use 3 that I put on with Bohning Blazer Helix). First of all, the right helical clamp, when lined up with Beman MFX shafts had a gap in the middle of the clamp (microdiameter may have had something to do with it, suspect a normal sized aluminum or carbon shaft might have lined up better, though still don't think the offset would be that aggressive). So I just lined up the bottom part of the clamp since I was only using Blazers I did not need the whole clamp lined up on the shaft, with as much turn on the adjustment nobs to give me as much "helical" as I could get and keep the vanes touching the shaft. I managed to fletch one arrow and pulled it out. I think it gave me, maybe a degree offset, though suspect it was only about 1/2 a degree (not the aggressive helical I got from the Bohning jig). I'll be returning it. Cabela's return policy is probably the one good thing about this.
What to get from this review: Blazers and microdiameter arrows...this is not the right jig for you unless you want a straight or slightly offset fletch.

Great product for the picky archer

I got this fletcher home and fletched a dozen "perfect" arrows. Now I'm experimenting with slight twists and getting great results in penetration.

Better than the plastic one
Date:
I would have given 5 stars except that I am having a little trouble getting the tip and the tail of the vanes to stay down once they are glued. I am having to add more glue to both ends after coming out of the jig. This gets more glue on the arrow than I like. I have fletched hundreds of arrows with my old plastic fletcher and it worked ok, but the glue was hard to get off of it. The Bitz makes it a lot easier to get glue off. It also grips a lot better than the plastic one. I think it will be a great product once I figure out how to keep the tip and the tail of the vane down. I use the right helical version.
