I've spent years using the copycats. After getting a couple gift certificates, I decided to try one (the Outdoorsman, 2 CR-123's). I'm amazed by this light and find myself making excuses to go out after dark or before daylight so I can use it. The copycats were tough, but do not compare to the beam quality of the surefire. I'm trying to fight the urge to get another one. Maybe a couple gift certificates for Christmas may push me over the edge!
I'm enjoying the versatility of this small but powerful flashlight. I'm finding many uses on my rural farm, including household use, hunting and use in my large yard, at night or during power outages. The size was appealing to me, as I didn't want to be encumbered with a large, bulky flashlight, as in the past. The high beam is intense and low beam conserves battery life. Only downside is that I find it difficult to convert between low and high beam, as the setting is very sensitive. In the dark, it's just trial and error to obtain the desired setting.
This is the highest quality flashlight I have ever owned. It is light, rugged, and bright. The one battery required lasts a very long time compared to other similar flashlights I have used. I would buy it again. The only suggestion for improvement is to make the clip reversible.
If you've never owned a surefire light you wont be disappointed. These lights are what military, police and fire fighters use. My family and I spend a lot of time in the wilderness here in Az. and I actually feel safer having this flash light with me. Its feeling of security is almost like having your knife or side arm. Its a must have, just don't loose it.
