One thing about this lantern - you don't outgrow it. You can purchase 20watt bulb for spot or flood, along with the spot or flood reflector that you don't already own, they are <3 minute changeover - and still have the std 8w bulb for lower watt need situations.
Streamlight also offers a C4 LED upgrade, both in spot and flood. I upgraded to the flood - it is mindblowing, bright, even, long lasting. That can't be changed over, so you need to pick your need when you upgrade.
Recently purchased and was excited when it arrived. Charged for a full 24 hours, per the instructions. The light beam is bright, but very narrow, approximately 12-18 inches wide. You cannot see any objects clearly, if more than 20 yards away. The instructions were read a second time and there appears that no beam adjustment features to allow the light beam to be adjusted wider. I will call Cabela's Technical Consultants, though likely will return to my local Cabelas store, a two hour drive away.
This light is awesome. It keeps a tight beam for several hundred yards (I'd say around 400y). The battery life is also unreal. I used it on and off for 3 nights and the beam never faded. I hooked it up to the charger and 15 minutes later it was fully charged. The most I've ever paid for a flashlight, but it is also by far the baddest light I have ever owned.
