I just bought this light and haven't used it in the field. Several things right off the bat that could be better. The light has a "safety disc" in the switch that is supposed to be in when transporting. It is a thin mica-like thing that is going to be lost pretty quickly. No place to store it when out of the light. Light is supposed to have a high and low setting, I can only find one. The switch is only a twist setting on the end. Takes two hands to turn it on or off. This light should be rated as a tactical light. It is very bright, but can only be on continuously for 10 minutes or it shuts itself off until it cools down. No good if you are in a place where you need a constant light. Instructions are vague with no mention of how to change settings. For the price, this item could be better engineered and come with better instructions. Not sure if I am going to keep it, I will take it back and ask how to change power settings.
I just purchased the 700 lumen light, and after charging it I was able to light up any areas of my 2 1/2 acre property with excellent lighting. I don't have any others to gauge it against, but I was pretty impressed. It's exactly what I need. The only problem that I have is that the on/off switch doesn't do 50% like it is advertised; I only get 1 choice as a power option. At least, I'm assuming it's the 100% level that I'm getting!? I've looked everywhere for help, but the instructions are very minimal that come with it.
Just to let you know, I have the 500 Lumen, and the 700 Lumen, and the 500 is much brighter than the 700 Lumen. I've compared them by distance and beam on a building, and the 500 Lumen light has a stronger beam and a farther throw. The 500 Lumen has 3 led bulbs, while the 700 Lumen light has only 1 bulb. I know it's hard to believe, but trust me. Although, I am quite happy with the 500 Lumen light, as it's Cabela's brand, and still a 500 Lumen worthy light. I recently returned a 120 Lumen Surefire Polystinger because I thought that it would be bright enough, but the Cabela's brand 500 Lumen light out-preformed this name brand light. I know that it's a big difference of 380 Lumen, but I'm more of a name-brand consumer, and I thought that they would still be comparable even giving their claims, but I was mistaken....
I bought this light last year after I was picking up a friend after dark when he lit up the field with it and didn't spook the deer. I was skeptical of the light because it was rechargeable. It works fine. I know the add says new but it is identical from mine. I waited before I left a review to be sure it would hold up. I live in the country and just went outside with it. It lit up a bridge 1/2 mile away. I have had, and still have have several lights but none compare with this one. It keeps its charge for a long time but when the juice runs out it does it all at once. Can't go wrong with this one. All my friends have them. Expensive but worth every penny.
