Ergonomic utility is the name of the game with this reintroduction of a Gerber classic that features cutting-edge upgrades. The 6" clip-point, fine-edge blade is constructed of durable 440A stainless steel that will serve you well in a variety of applications, but it's the handle that makes working with this knife such a pleasure. Constructed of textured SoftGrip overmold on a hard substrate, the black handle features finger grooves that are optimally placed for a secure grip in any weather or work environment. A generous finger guard enhances safe use. The Steadfast comes with a ballistic nylon sheath outfitted with a protective liner.
Overall length: 10.75".

Best working and camping knife I ever had! Very versatile in every way. Strong, keeps the edge, doubles as an outstanding survival knife. Wish I had one 20 years ago! Must be very careful un-sheathing it though, as the strap gets in the way, and I keep it Razor sharp. That is the only drawback.
This past season I put this knife through the ringer! It was used from food prep in camp to gutting and skinning multiple deer, cutting reeds, brush and other plants to brush up duck blinds, cutting rope and wire, pounding in stakes and nails. After all that it is still in great condition, it holds it's edge, and is my number one go to knife in the outdoors.
Back in the day (early '90s), I looked at many knives to carry on my survival vest when flying. I needed a knife that, if I ever ejected, would be my primary survival tool. I even looked at Randal Made and was ready to pay the premium but this knife is better. It used to be called the LMF and, from the looks of the current photo, had a superior sheath.
If you're looking for a heavy-duty knife that can take most anything this is it. Although it looks like a double edged blade it is not. That's a good thing. If you're working around camp after a long day in the field the last thing you want is a knife with an edge on top of the blade. Another plus is the pommel. It can be used as a hammer - drive tent stakes, crack nuts, etc.
Pros: heavy duty, edge holding, grip, pommel
Cons: heavy, big (neither is an issue for me unless I'm backpacking)
Excellent, affordable knife. Was a gift from "Santa" after a little birdy told "him" it was on my list!
Very comfortable to use. Feels rugged and heavy duty. The edge holds nicely. Works great when batoned to split wood. The blade does seem to have a very slight amount of play in the handle (in the thousandths-of-an-inch range... very small), but it is not noticeable during use or by sight. It's more "felt" as a small vibration if you are physically looking/feeling for it. Does not affect it's integrity. I upgraded the sheath, not too keen on the nylon style. (Most Gerbers come with nylon and I have lost a couple Gerber multi-tools via a hole wearing through the nylon sheath/pouch from repeated use.)
Even though there are better quality knives made with stronger steel, better sheaths etc... This knife is a wonderful tool to have. It will take a beating, looks very attractive, and for the price, if you kill it, you can replace it without breaking the bank!
