Bell & Carlson is renowned for making top-of-the-line gun stocks that are nearly indestructible. The Gerber Gator fixed-blade hunting knife has been the go-to tool for many a hunter when it’s time to field dress, skin and debone big game. This knife is the latest model of the famous Gator outfitted with Bell & Carlson textured handles. Available in drop-point and gut-hook models with 4" blades constructed of exceptional CPM S30V stainless steel, these will hold an edge 45% longer than knives made of conventional 440C stainless steel. The glass-filled nylon handles with Bell & Carlson texturing are impervious to the elements and outfitted with a lanyard hole. The texturing ensures a sturdy grip in wet and messy field conditions. Each knife comes with a ballistic nylon sheath (unless otherwise noted) that has a handle-restraining strap to make sure your knife stays put until needed. Lifetime warranty. Made in USA.

I bought the Gerber Gator expecting a Razor Edge, after receiving it I was dissapointed in the edge, after an hour of honing I am now happy with the soul of the knife. The handle seems hard, harder then I would like, I haven't used it yet, but I am sure I will be happy after reading the reviews about it's edge retention. Over all a good knife, fits in my hand very well, balance feels good and after the honing I am going to recommend it to all my friends.

great knife, lousy sheath

Have used this knife to dissasemble two big bull elk, two oryx and necropsy several cows. Love the knife, love the steel. refreshes easily to razor sharp with a cutlery steel.
CHEESY CHEESY CHEESY sheath. Carry it in your pack not on a belt or you will loose it.

Very Sharp!

I USED THIS KNIFE FOR THE FIRST TIME YESTERDAY, WHEN I ARROWED A DEER HERE IN NORTHERN WISCONSIN. EXTREAMLY SHARP BLADE AND GUT HOOK WORK GOOD TOO. THE PROBLEM WAS WHEN IT CAME TIME TO CLEAN THE KNIFE, I LET IT SOAK IN WARM WATER WITH DISHWASHING DETERGENT IN THE WATER. WHEN I REMOVED THE KNIFE FROM THE SOAPY WATER THE BELL & CARLSON HANDLE TURNED WHITE AND THE STEEL HAD TARNISHED IN SOME AREAS. OVERALL IT'S A GREAT SHARP GUTTING KNIFE.
