Gerber’s legendary knife- and gear-making expertise combines with the outdoor survival knowledge of Bear Grylls to develop a knife built to give you an edge in any outdoor adventure situation. The 4.75" fixed, drop-point blade is constructed of sturdy high-carbon stainless steel, and the back half is serrated to saw through branches, rope and bone. Full-tang blade construction ensures maximum durability. The ergonomic textured, molded-rubber grip gives you a sure hold in any weather and has a stainless steel knurled butt cap with a striking surface for hammering. An small emergency locator whistle is attached to the lanyard. The lightweight, military-grade, mildew-resistant nylon sheath sports survival features of its own. A fire-starting ferrocerium rod locks into the sheath and makes sparks when struck in a striker notch built into the back of the knife’s blade. A diamond sharpener is also integrated into the sheath for in-the-field edge honing. You also receive a patch demonstrating key ways to communicate with search-and-rescue aircraft. This knife comes with Bear Grylls’ pocket survival guide, “Priorities of Survival.” The guide contains vital, potentially life-saving information about wilderness survival. Imported. Blade length: 4.75". Overall length: 10". Weight: 11.2 oz.
I bought one of these and it is great. It has a firesteel rod, sharpener, whistle, hammering pommel on back of knife, priorities of survival guide and air to ground signaling key. It has many useful things. I think the firesteel and pommel are the best. Great for batoning with the wicked sharp serrations. It is great to carry from a belt, just get some paracord to tie around your leg to the bottom loop on the sheath and it will stay put. The blade has a very small depression mark because i hit a small rock while batoning, but overall a great blade. You cant find any fixed blade knife better for your money than this. The bear grylls series is quality built and geniusly designed. Its practical and very useful and reliable.
I got this knife after reading all the reviews and watching some clips on youtube about it. It is a great knife with many gadets that make it even better. The only complaint is it didnt come to sharp out of box. Other that that I recommend it to anyone who likes to go camping or anything outdoors.
Received this knife as a Christmas present and can't wait to use it in the field. The sheath is a little bulky and not keen on the velco straps to hold it in place. The whistle is no big deal and I will remember to not use the knife as a hammer, perhaps just light pounding. The survival pocket guide is paper and should be stored in your pocket if you want it to last any period of time. The belt loop will work with a 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 in. belt. Nice blade and handle grip, won't slip and feel good in my large hand. Firesteel rod works well. But I may have problems with it falling out of scabbard/knife sheath built-in holder since it is mounted upside down. Like the looks and hopefully will work well for me. Now, were is that darn light rod?
