My leader broke on the distal end when caught in some weeds. I didn't pull very hard, and when I reeled the leader back in my lure was gone and the "wire" part of the leader had slipped through the "crimp" designed to hold the end in a loop.

My sons and I took a long awaited fishing trip to Canada in July 2010. Since we were planning to catch a lot of pike, I knew we needed some steel leaders. Unfortunately, the package I received should never have made it past quality control. The ball bearing swivels at the top of the leaders were all mounted upside down: the split ring that should have been used to tie the line to was attached to the top loop of the wire strand. That left only the sharp edged hole that the leader loop should have gone through to tie the line on. This we could have fixed if we wanted to take the time to undo and redo all 24 split rings. Unfortunately, the trouble didn't stop here: we lost fish and lures when the loose crimp sleeves at the duolock snap end of the leader slipped, allowing the loops to pull loose and the snap to come off. This happened 4 times on our first day before we finally started taking our chances with no leaders at all. I'm hoping Cabela's will stand behind their product and replace the lost lures as well!

When casting with these leaders for the first time, I lost two lures when the metal crimping for the end loop did not hold.
