These flush-mount gunwale rod holders are made of 316 stainless steel with a super-tough gimbal bar welded in place that's designed to hold up to the punishment of downriggers and heavy tackle. The white vinyl liner is keyed with the bar to stay in place and protect rods. Extra-large, low-profile cap enhances the appearance of any boat. Available for mounting in three angles.

Flush mount rod holder

I purchased this rod holder to replace an original equipment holder that I got when purchased my boat four years ago. This holder is much sturdier than the old one and appears to be much better built with the pin at the bottom of the holder being welded in rather than riveted. We used it this last week for the first time and was very satisfied with the performance of the holder.

I used the Smith 30° rod holders to replace a set of plastic holders in the stern corners of my boat. I installed them to hold downrigger mounts, and they fit the bill perfectly. They are solid and strong. The gimbal bars hold the downriggers great. These rod holders look good too.

solid rod holders

purchases 2 of these for my Grady, but i got a hold of 2 OEM Grady 30 degree flush mounts and will install those instead to match the existing sets aboard. Not tested, but the Smiths appear to be very well made, heavy duty and with a nice finish.
