Cabela's Salt Striker™ Line - 1/4-lb. Spool

  • Special UV additives
  • Abrasion-resistant finish
  • Low-stretch high-tensile strength
  • Thinner-diameter copolymer line
Our new Salt Striker™ series clear copolymer is constructed to all of the exacting specifications of high-dollar saltwater lines without the price tag. The smaller diameter-to-strength ratio means that you can have more line on your reels for long, drag-smoking runs or get extra distance when casting out to spooky fish in crystal clear, shallow waters. This premium line also gives superior knot strength wet or dry. Our special manufacturing process increases the strength of the line's exterior for maximum abrasion resistance as well as protection from UV-caused line deterioration. The co-polymer construction has a core that is incredibly shock-resistant for sharp hooksets and has almost zero memory for smooth casts without line loops forming. Comes in 1/4-pound spools.
Colors: Blue, Chartreuse, Clear.

- We feel so confident in our fishing lines that we make, in this day and age, a very unusual offer. We invite you to field test any of our Cabela's line for a period of 60 days. Fantastic line.
Date:
This line really meets my need's when fishing in Alaska. I fish south east Alaska for salmon and rock fish with this line. Add a long leader for trolling attached to braid and load a spool for casting and jigging. Wash off reals and line when you get back and it will last a very long time. One other thing, it is a great price for the amount of line you get on the 1/4 pound spool.

Saltstriker 20lb a weak line
Date:
The first thing I do whenever I purchase new line is test its actual breaking strength. That's what I did as soon as I got my two spools of saltstriker line. I was really disappointed because at every testing the line broke at around 17-18lb. I'm sad, I'm not even going to use these spools of weak line.
Then I checked the diameter of the line, and found it to be 0.015 inch which is the usual diameter for 15lb lines. So, it's an average 15lb line... BUT I was under the impression I was buying some strong, thin TWENTY pound line. Cabelas should change the label regarding the breaking strentgth.

Great Value - Great Product
Date:
I have been using Cabela's Salt Striker lines on a number of reels for the past two years. I must say that I change the lines out at least once a season.
Most of my fishing is either done from the surf, off jetties, or on piers. As far as I'm concerned it's been the toughest stuff I've used within it's price range.
One problem we have in this area is that there is often tar in the water. It's not uncommon for me to spend some time cleaning tar off of my equipment. That includes the lines. The Gaviota Coast is also a place where the fisherman will encounter rocky shores, reefs, and kelp. Due to the price, and the product's toughness, I can't say I've found anything better here. Finally, I've found it to have great knot strength and low memory. It does the job wonderfully. Did I forget to add that all of this gives me a few extra bucks to spend on more fishing equipment?
