Description: In celebration of their 90th anniversary, Sako has produced ten of these rifles, worldwide. This particular rifle is number 2 of the ten-piece production - and marked as such in gold on the action. Sako has built their reputation on very finely fitted and finished rifles, and with this series, they’ve taken this craftsmanship to an altogether new level. They fitted these rifles with their all-new XL action that’s been hand polished and extensively hand engraved. The barrel is built to Sako’s standards, then fitted with a quarter rib, barrel-band front swivel and barrel-band front sight, all fitted and polished to the same high level as the action. The floorplate features the same level of finish along with fine-scroll engraving and gold inlays of a cape buffalo and Sako 90. A steel grip cap is also adorned with the Sako 90 logo in gold. To support all of this handsome metal work is an equally handsome piece of exhibition walnut, hand rubbed with a satiny oil finish and fitted with an ebony fore-end tip. Stock configuration is classic: straight-comb with a shadowline cheekpiece, deep-well magazine to hold four of these large cartridges along with one in the chamber, inletted rear swivel and finally fitted with a red Pachmayr Old English pad to tame the recoil of this hefty chambering. To ensure that no detail was left unattended, the package includes a Swarovski Z6i 1-6x24 extended eye-relief scope with 4-I reticle, fitted in Sako Optilock scope rings, a fitted Emmebi leather trunk-style case with cleaning rod, turnscrews, oil bottle, woven sling and other accoutrements. There’ll only be a few chances at these rifles in the US, and rifle #2 may well be the lowest number available on this continent.
